The Phantom of the Opera at San Diego Civic Theatre
“The most successful entertainment event of all time… it still works hard for its audience.” – Andrzej Lukowski
The musical that has been capturing hearts and imaginations around the world for four decades and is rated as one of the longest-running theatrical phenomena is back on the road – and this fall the music of the night is headed your way!
Few theatrical productions can hold the candle to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpiece. It’s larger than life; it’s high drama backed by an immense wall of spectacular and soul-deep sound; it’s the ultimate theatrical experience that everybody needs to see at least twice in their life; it’s spectacular, extraordinary, breathtaking, heart-wrenching, haunting, passionate, and oozing with theatrical ingenuity; it’s a five-star show that pulls you into a black hole of immensity, pure power, and majesty from the get-go and will have you in its grip until the very last roars of the standing ovation has died down – and ultimately, it’s an experience that will make it very clear just why, after four decades, it is still much adored, respected, and cherished.
Yes San Diego – the Phantom is alive and well, waiting in the shadows of the Opéra Populaire to enthrall you with this year’s North American tour! And Yes, San Diego, The Phantom Of The Opera is coming to the San Diego Civic Theatre this fall!

SYNOPSIS
Legend has it that all old theatres are haunted – and the Paris Opéra House has been experiencing it first-hand.
The man in the mysterious white mask hiding in the shadows, passing through mirrors, and singing inside the minds of his Opéra Populaire, has grown a fascination and deep love – almost an obsession – with the season’s young up-and coming-soprano, Christine Daaé. The mysterious musical genius grooms her to be the best singer she can possibly be and to become an operatic star, but instead of reciprocating his affections, she falls in love with the Opera Populaire’s new patron, Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny.
This infuriates the Phantom, and what once was tender, turns violent and desperate, with dire consequences.
“The show that makes no apologies!” – London Evening Standard
