Ever since Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, alongside playwrights Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, created ‘The Sound Of Music’, it became clear that what would be their very last work, has been destined for international triumphs.

A musical with a more sizable amount of adored numbers is yet to be written; no musical has ever been able to remain relevant despite its age as ‘The Sound Of Music’; and a tale as heart-warming, yet filled with major social issues, is yet to be created.

No other musical has been revisited as many times, had more performances around the globe, and has been received with more acclaim than ‘The Sound Of Music’. It racked up no less than five Tony Awards, a Theatre World Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Special Award, alongside many nominations. ‘The Sound Of Music’ has also been adapted into a hugely successful film that has been enjoyed all around the globe for generations.

‘The Sound Of Music’, inspired by Maria von Trapp’s ‘The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, follows the tale of Maria, a free-spirited nun, who after stepping in as the governess of the seven children of Captain Georg von Trapp, brings back music and happiness to the family. The family is faced with many adversities - from the threat the annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany to the blooming romance between Captain von Trapp - man who vowed to marry another, and Maria, who vowed to remain a nun.

There is no doubt that there is plenty to admire about ‘The Sound Of Music’: from the incredible musical prowess of the oldest nun right down to the youngest Von Trapp child, to the ageless, delightful music that becomes an earworm without any effort; from the lush sounding orchestra to the stunningly handcrafted sets that float effortlessly from a grey cathedral to the old Austrian splendour of the Von Trapp house; from the heartwarming tale about overcoming difficulty and an innocent love that blooms like the Edelweiss itself|heartwarming tale of love, resilience, and music|celebrated tale that has been teaching the world to sing and fall in love for decades} to the powerhouse cast that carries their parts with excellence, masterfully delivers the much-adored music, and steals hearts from the first notes.

They were right: the world is indeed alive with ‘The Sound Of Music’.
