THE PLOT

The Beast is not who he seems, he used to be a spoiled prince who wouldn’t give a beggar some kindness due her appearance. Turns out, it was an enchantress who aimed to teach him a lesson about true beauty. Hence, after being transformed into a beast, the beautiful castle he lives in became somewhat like a prison and all his servants were transformed into household things like a candelabra, a teapot, a clock, and a teacup. However, here comes the young and beautiful Belle, who arrives at the castle to save her captive father, Maurice. Belle exchanges places with her aging father but instead of being a prisoner, she was treated like a guest. The Beast who takes a liking to Belle is hoping that she can break his cuse and turn him human again. Will there be a happy ending for both the Beast and Belle? This 2025 to 2026 will be the first time that Beauty and the Beast the musical will be on a North American tour since 2010! CREATIVE TEAM & CAST

Beauty and the Beast the Musical is a project by Disney Theatrical Productions. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1994 after a trial run in Houston the year before. The production features the book by Laurence Olivier Award-wiinign playwright Linda Woolverton with music and lyrics by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice. The production also featured direction by Drama League Award winning director and choreographer Matt West. Beauty and the Beast the musical also brought in the most groundbreaking talents in Broadway, including Stanely A Meyer on scenic design, Ann Hould Ward on costume, Tony winner Natasha Katz on lighting, and John Shivers on sound. 

Meanwhile, the North American touring cast includes the most incredible performers in the circuit, such as Kyra Belle Johnson as Belle, Fergie Philippe as the Beast, Stephen Mark Lucas as Gaston, Danny Gardnier as Lumiere, Kevin Ligon as Maurice, Kathy Voytko as Mrs. Potts, Javier Igancio as Coggsworth, and Harry Francis as Lefou.

LEGACY

Beauty and the Beast the musical earned countless accolades the same year after premiering on Broadway. The musical won a Tony Award for Best Costume Design out of nine nominations. Beauty and the Beast also notably received nominations for Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical. Over at the Drama Desk Awards, Beauty and the Beast received ten nominations including for Outstanding Musical. Four years later, the production went to London’s West End thereby earning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical. The production also earned two more nominations for Best Theatre Choreographer and Best Costume Design.
