One of the hottest podcasts and YouTube channels is hitting the road! The former US Navy SEAL and present mystery podcast master, MrBallen, is heading out to thirteen cities for an exciting run of "Lights Out Live" shows. Known for his victim-oriented true-crime stories, investigations, and unsolved mysteries, people around the globe have been hooked on the strange, dark, and mysterious tales he's been sharing since 2020. Widely available across YouTube, Amazon Music, Spotify, and more platforms, his work has stirred up millions of souls. With exclusive content made for the tour, oh you can't miss out on this!
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, MrBallen had shared his environment growing up - one where high academic standards were upheld. After getting his degree, he enlisted in the US Navy, and joined SEAL Team Two in Virginia Beach back in 2012. He retired in 2017 as he focused on treatment and his mental health, following a grenade that hit him in 2014.
Throughout his life, MrBallen had shown bravey, and he took it digital as he launched his own YouTube channel in 2020 - making content on true crime and unsolved mysteries. With segments like "3 Photos with Disturbing Backstories", "Places You Can’t Go and People Who Went There Anyway", and the "Like Button", he has plenty of thrilling moments and running gags you'll never forget. He also has a podcast named "Strange, Dark & Mysterious Stories", which toped Spotify charts in 2022. A year later, his new podcast series "MrBallen’s Medical Mysteries" shared medical horrors, filled with unheard diseases, unseen recoveries, and unfortunate medical incidents.
While he's always been in front of the camera, MrBallen took the time to get writing, presenting his first book "MrBallen Presents: Strange, Dark and Mysterious" in 2024. It's a graphic novel featuring nine stories, and he collaborated with novelist Robert Venditti and illustrated by Andrea Mutti.
Of course, we all know who he is... but did you know that his amusement for stories goes way back before he kicked off the channel? Strange and dark? It's all because of his time in the Navy.
"When I was in the military, my nickname was Shakespeare," MrBallen told USA Today. "I constantly was yapping."
When fellow SEALs asked him to tell stories, "the ones that would get the best reaction were stories that were unsettling, scary."
While these stories are real, with victims who have real families still living to this day, MrBallen shares that he's careful about the way he narrates these events.
"If I'm going to tell a story about this horrible thing that's happened to someone, and it's this real story, I need to operate as if the family members or friends are going to see this video," he shared with USA Today, explaining that he wants people to see that he's recounting these events in an appropriate way.
It's about connecting his audience to the victim - the pain, the remorse, the tragedy, not about violence or the gore. Mastering the art of storytelling, it's clear why MrBallen stands out among content creators who dive deep into these strange, dark, and mysterious stories.
